I have produced in recent months a number of political blogs where my focus was on UK national politics, parties and persons. My last one, less than a week ago was titled “What about the Heritage Party?” I would like now to turn my attention back again to the local (in my case, Southend) scene.

David was a man of many parts: shepherd, poet, prophet, musician, warrior, outlaw, king, father, husband, adulterer, murderer, worship leader, loyal friend, man of God, favoured by God, to name a few.

Having considered many of the humans that played a significant part in the life and times of David, we turn to the one who is not human and yet is the most significant – YHWH God, for after all it His book which tells of His dealings with individuals and, especially in the OT, those belonging to His chosen nation, Israel.

Having looked at the life and times of David through the lens of eight key figures that David had significant dealings with while he was alive, we are still left with a number, worth mentioning, who played a significant part in David’s life and times.

The ReAwaken America Tour and The World Economic Forum Meetings

Yesterday saw the ending to the latest (two day) event, part of a series of events in the ReAwaken America Tour. It also saw the ending of the latest World Economic Forum (five day) meeting that is held each year in Davos, Switzerland.

Why I can’t support Reform UK; where my hope lies

I have a number of friends who are in, have been in or hope to be in political office and, for this reason, I have tagged some into my latest “political post”, albeit one with a twist, which I will get to at the end.

Chess revisited

Some will know, I have been a chess enthusiast ever since I was ten and was taught how to play the game by an older boy who had learned the game while in juvenile detention, who emphasized the importance of showing respect for the game and my opponent.

The Breedlove Papers concerning John Bunyan’s Trial (see here) is a salutary reminder of what took place leading to John Bunyan (author of Pilgrim’s Progress) being convicted and thrown into jail for NOT agreeing to refrain from preaching the gospel.
