A few days ago, I learned of the passing of John Motson and was also alerted to another wise saying: “Listen and Learn” to add to the six wise sayings I blogged concerning recently (see here).

Charismatic or Reformed – memories from my university days

I went to Queen Mary College (part of London University) in order to “read chemistry”, upon leaving school in 1970. I would like to share some memories I had as a young, keen Christian, which strangely resonate today, mindful of the words of the Preacher in Ecclesiastes – that there is nothing new under the sun, and noting Murphy’s Law – that often things are not what they seem.

What to make of the Asbury Revival?

Part of my daily watchman routine is to check out the likes of Bitchute for news on what is going on in the world, which is often grim and foreboding, yet often culminates in new articles on my blog. Today, I came across this report: “Asbury Revival: Why it’s unique & what’s next?” and I was encouraged.

Jehoiada, a priest of the Bible and one who made a difference

I don’t ever recall a hearing sermon on Jehoiada, a priest of the Bible, but having just made a study of his life (2 Kings 9-12 and 2 Chronicles 22-24) and striking lucky with my You Tube search for a suitable sermon on this mostly overlooked character (this one here is by someone who “gets it”), I feel compelled to write.

My early Christian influence was with the Plymouth Brethren. They were not keen on any church that was not a PB assembly and while not as high on their antipathy list as RCs, CofE was still high up.
