Note: I had intended to write this blog soon after the results of the May 7 English local elections, which resulted in a resounding win for Reform, with Greens doing particularly well and Labour and Conservative doing badly, were known. But with one thing leading to another, I delayed writing it, but I am glad that I can now do so, especially given so much has happened in the meantime. Let me begin with how I began writing this blog nearly two weeks ago …

Reflections following the latest (May 16, 2026) Unite the Kingdom Rally
I only realised late on that this Tommy Robinson inspired event was going on, but once I had I marked it down as significant given where we are, as a kingdom (the UK), and what I see as an increasing divided kingdom that long ago I recognised as having lost its way.

I recently was notified about who is standing – see below.
Continue readingMy views on the Green Party and UK political parties
It was two weeks ago when the Green Party won a UK By-Election with a sizeable majority, followed by Reform UK (see here for what I wrote about the election outcome and my thoughts going forward). This was a historical result that consigned Labour (who previously held the seat) and Conservative to third and fourth places respectively. While By Elections tend to attract apathy and protest, this result also indicated that the two-party hegemony may be over.

To be honest (lol), with so much going on in the world that is of an alarming nature and given my disillusionment with British politics, I have been paying less attention, than I would have once done, to when elections happen. I have little doubt, along with many, that UK politics is in a turmoil, and the question is begged: which way would it turn out if a General Election were to be called today?
Continue readingAdvance UK, Restore Britain and observations of the UK political scene – August 2025
In recent days, I have often had to reflect with increasing consternation on the current dismal political scene and the country that I was born and live in going off in a dangerous direction.

It has been a four months since I wrote my last episode in my Trumpwatch series (see here) and a week since I wrote my third in my “Watching on the wall and what I am presently seeing” series (see here). Both of these blogs are pertinent when it comes to writing this present Trumpwatch episode.
Continue readingWatching on the wall and what I am presently seeing (3)
This is the third post in my “Watching on the wall and what I am presently seeing” trilogy. See here for the first and here for the second in the series. Having set the scene, I turn to what I am now seeing. It see a lot and it is hard to know where to begin and what to present. In my previous episode, I identified four important areas for consideration upon which I now elaborate, but also point out that I have already said a lot in my previous blogs (see here).
