I commented in my previous Football World Cup 2022 – the story so far post (see here), following the end of the Round of 16, that I had not expected to post until after the Final, but there was so much blog-worthy material and thus I relented. The same sentiment applies concerning the Quarter Finals, just ended.

But I relent given the football has been of a high standard and a lot better than what I predicted would be the case before the tournament.

Fortunately, this time, the decision was taken out of my hands when, a few days back, thirteen of us descended on Back in Time, in Chelmsford, a place hitherto I was not even aware of, although it is located just up the road to where I once worked.

We are about to reach the knock out stages of the Football World Cup 2022, meaning in terms of number of games played we are well past the half way stage but soon the fun really begins as teams have to win their games, often against sterner opposition, in order to progress, instead of just doing enough to qualify from their groups.
