The Mystery of Babylon and today’s events

The The Mystery of Babylon and today’s events

This is going to be a bit of a roller coaster, but I will at least provide highlights (albeit related to the reason why I am posting on this fascinating and (as I will explain) surprisingly pertinent subject) that students of Bible prophecy have pondered and argued over for aeons, long before I knew such people existed. Much of 2020 and the beginning of 2021, I have been fully engaged in deeply researching and writing my book titled: Prophets of the Bible (see here for details and to get a free download) and, while I now appear to fall into the category of sad old men who have had their day and who obsess over the interpretation of Bible prophecy (especially that which has not yet been fulfilled, noting however that much has, thus showing the Bible can be trusted), I would argue that considering such matters in order to better understand our times is important, despite experts disagreeing. I offer the following meme, not because I believe the EU is the Mystery of Babylon (it is more complex than that) but because it offers evidence that the spirit behind the Mystery may well be the same as that behind the EU as well as what was one referred to as the New World Order and now the Great Reset, talk of which is now well out there in the open.

While not the main focus of that book, which was more to do with the Old Testament prophets and what they prophesied, in particular that which has already been fulfilled, it was never my intention to dodge the more challenging passages for the sake of a quiet life, despite noting my own limited understanding of Bible prophecy, starting with Daniel and Revelation (but there are also many other harder to figure out parts of the Bible worth reflecting on concerning end times prophecy). For that reason, I decided to take twenty of the most challenging and controversial yet to be fulfilled prophecies that even Bible scholars I consider to be sound do not see eye to eye over and write concerning them, limiting myself to around a page on each one. I append below what I wrote on the Mystery of Babylon (almost an antithesis to the Mystery of the Church the Bible also speaks about). Ironically, in under a year my understanding has changed, not that I disagree with so much of what I wrote, but post November 3rd US Election steal, I have come to see Babylon in a much clearer light due to what is being revealed and a strong sense of the upping of the ante when it comes to the battle between good and evil.

One of the books that interested and fascinated me as a young Christian, and which complemented the interests of some of my early mentors, was titled: Dispensational Truth by Clarence Larkin, a PDF version of which can be freely downloaded. While I am not fully in agreement, especially regarding the Rapture of the Church, I stand in awe at his insights and also his fantastic charts, one of which I share above (although to see the detail best download the images and enlarge). Larkin’s views on the Mystery of Babylon and Revelation 17 and 18 is more or less in line with what I had been taught. While Babylon fell in 539 BC, the Babylon referred to in Revelation appears to fall toward the end of the Tribulation period a little prior to Jesus returning to planet earth (see chart). Plenty of discussion, including by learned scholars whose theology is mainly sound, can be found on the Internet. While interesting, I am more interested for now in cutting to the chase and might point folk to what one of the modern day political prophets, Johnny Enlow, has to say in his BABYLON THE GREAT IS FALLEN and THE FALL OF BABYLON videos, because of what I am beginning to see a lot more clearly of late. Some of what we see may be described as conspiracy theory by detractors yet all too often ends us as being shown as fact, but still there is a lot we don’t know and we need to be careful not to get carried away or blind people with our knowledge.

A search on the word “Babylon” using the BibleGateway application comes up with 265 hits and could form the basis for a fascinating Bible study. Not included in the search is the story of the Tower of Babel, which scholars believe is on the site of ancient Babylon. It is interesting that in both the first and the last book of the Bible we find God being displeased with the Babylon project of that time, where the common feature was a form of globalism and setting itself against God, which led to their destruction. In the Bible, Babylon was one of the great empires and was also God’s instrument of judgment on the nation of Judah, resulting in 70 years of Exile. While the Psalmist lamented that time, it was clear God was in control. Babylon, even at the height of greatness, was then conquered by Persia, under Cyrus the Great, who allowed the Jews to return to their homes. While a lot of OT prophecy was concerned with these events, in Jeremiah 50 and 51 we can see parallels with the Babylon discussed in Revelation. As for the interpretation of these scriptures, including the identity of the NT Babylon, this will have to be for another time, but what has intrigued me as I look at what goes on in the world, such as the three great world centres: Washington DC, the City of London, and Vatican City, I see the hall marks of the Babylonian system that was prophesied against, which I did not see before, with Donald Trump, (I believe) shortly to be restored as president of the USA, being a modern day Cyrus.

This is the stance taken by Johnny Enlow and other modern day political politics, to which I add the rider “test and weigh”. While it upsets my previous view (aka Larkin) of Babylon being taken down at the very end (which still could be the case given how Bible prophecy can be fulfilled on more than one level), I am inclined to agree. I see enough of what has been going on with Big Pharma (see below) especially arising out of the Covid-19 “pandemic”, Child sex trafficking on an industrial scale, an agenda that is intent on enslaving and depopulating the masses and elevating the elites, Satanic worship involving ritual abuse, a great Financial Reset, and spiritual apostacy (examples of which is becoming more evident by the day, although not through mainstream media) where I begin to see in plain sight some of the players of the Babylonian system, which likely goes back to Tower of Babel times, which I was not aware off, even a year ago. The fall of that version of Babylon may be part of the good version of the Great Reset, which I discuss in some of my other writings, and it is quite possible – but for now I sit back and watch the Pantomime going on, knowing God is in control.

The Mystery of Babylon (Revelation 18:1-9)

Two chapters (17 and 18) are devoted to our second woman, the Mystery of Babylon, referred to also as the “Great Whore”, who is introduced: “And there came one of the seven angels which had the seven vials, and talked with me, saying unto me, Come hither; I will shew unto thee the judgment of the great whore that sitteth upon many waters: With whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication. So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns. And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication. And upon her forehead was a name written, Mystery, Babylon The Great, The Mother Of Harlots And Abominations Of The Earth. And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw her, I wondered with great admiration.” (Revelation 17:1-6.)

The identity of the Mystery is a keenly debated one among prophecy students. It includes Rome (and the Roman Catholic Church); major economic centres, such as New York; Jerusalem in its impenitent state; and, more recently (and with some credibility, given what we have been seeing in recent years), something to do with the Muslim world – for example: a rebuilt Babylon or a new mega-city now being built in Saudi Arabia. We cannot say for sure concerning the identity and events, but it cannot be ignored, for it plays an important part in the Tribulation period.

The image depicts the woman riding on the Beast (the Antichrist) with whom she has a strong relationship. She represents a major commercial and religious centre. She holds extraordinary power and influence on the world stage (“which reigneth over the kings of the earth”, 17:18); and it is easy to imagine, in his quest for world domination and adulation, why the Beast would want to team up with her; although at some point, and the trigger is unclear, he turns against her. She is responsible, along with the Antichrist, for the persecution of “the saints”.

Her demise is sudden and emphatic, and with it comes a warning for believers: “Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird. For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies. And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.” (18:2-5.)

So many points can be elaborated – such as Babylon representing a long line of pseudo-spiritual, socio-economic entities, opposed to the true God and His people, yet wielding power and influence, going back to Nimrod and the Tower of Babel and Babylon itself, about which Isaiah 47:8,11 and Jeremiah 50 relate, and notably some of the imagery on display then is also in John’s vision.

THE ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM

  1. There are many things, places, organisations, etc., that are part of Babylon. In the end times I believe it is more than just a city, but a whole world government and its religious system.
