I have lived in the city of Southend-on-Sea, England, for most of my life. It has two parliamentary constituencies and while there have been boundary changes during the time I lived there, one covering the East side of the City and the other the West side, most of that time I lived on the East side, although now I am living in the West.

Islamic Britain; Islamophobic Britain?

The matter of Britain losing its way in all sorts of ways is a matter of great concern for me and others, many viewed as deplorable and far right, bigots by their detractors. This, along with what are commonly understood British values (such as those set out in meme below), do they still exist, which ones are desirable, are themes that underlie some of the rants contained in my blogs in recent years. Linked to these deliberations is the question of the desirability and influence of Islam, whether or not this is welcomed or significant?

Trumpwatch 70 – Back to Ukraine

Another Trump related blog so soon after the last one, and why not!? The Donald sending Ukraine’s Volodymyr home with a flea in the ear, soon after getting on so well with France’s Emmanuel and Britain’s Keir, has provided us with some great entertainment and has triggered many, including those who don’t usually say much, with all points of view on the Trump good bad spectrum, to weigh in with their unsurprising views, and some not knowing what to say.

Trumpwatch 69 – Money makes the World go round

Yet another Trumpwatch episode so soon after my last one, BUT so much is happening in the world where Trump features (and he features in a lot of it). Meanwhile, I watch the Cabaret and, while thinking that this is a central theme of one of my favourite musicals by that name (see here). I thought I would make this episode about another of Cabaret’s themes: Money (see here). The advice to “follow the money” is a sound one to getting to the bottom of things.

It is all about the children but what has that got to do with home schooling?

“It” being the safety and wellbeing of our children that has been under attack throughout the world, besides the UK, on many fronts. Some will argue too little is being done to ensure “It” is satisfactorily dealt with, even though few disagree that the wellbeing of children is important while disputing what this amounts to and how achieved.

Elon Musk; Messiah or Antichrist; Hero or Villain

According to Wikipedia: “Elon Reeve Musk (born June 28, 1971) is a businessman known for his key roles in the space company SpaceX and the automotive company Tesla, Inc. He is also known for his ownership of X Corp. (the company that operates the social media platform X, formerly Twitter), and his role in the founding of the Boring Company, xAI, Neuralink, and OpenAI. Musk is the wealthiest individual in the world; as of January 2025, Forbes estimates his net worth to be US$421 billion”. He is a controversial and outspoken character and has been a lot in the news recently.
