The matter of Britain losing its way in all sorts of ways is a matter of great concern for me and others, many viewed as deplorable and far right, bigots by their detractors. This, along with what are commonly understood British values (such as those set out in meme below), do they still exist, which ones are desirable, are themes that underlie some of the rants contained in my blogs in recent years. Linked to these deliberations is the question of the desirability and influence of Islam, whether or not this is welcomed or significant?
Continue readingX and Free Speech
I recently joined X, wrote about X’s owner, Elon Musk (see here) and attacks on free speech (see here). Today, I want to bring all three together with the minimal going over of old ground.
Continue readingLiz Truss, the depressing, dire state of British politics today, and are there reasons for hope?
I am a political neutral as well as a political nerd!
Continue readingWorldly Church; Biblical Church
One of my regular, daily routines is to check my Facebook feed for anything interesting other people have posted. Sometimes, when I find something, I share it on my own page.
Continue readingKing Jehu, Jehonoadab and the Rechabites, and Donald Trump
The picture below portrays King Jehu inviting Jehonadab into his chariot when he was on his way to clean house (2 Kings 10:15-17 relates). Jehonadab is one of those fascinating, impactful, often overlooked, good guys, mentioned only briefly in the Bible, and was part of the Rechabite clan.
Continue readingTrumpwatch 70 – Back to Ukraine
Another Trump related blog so soon after the last one, and why not!? The Donald sending Ukraine’s Volodymyr home with a flea in the ear, soon after getting on so well with France’s Emmanuel and Britain’s Keir, has provided us with some great entertainment and has triggered many, including those who don’t usually say much, with all points of view on the Trump good bad spectrum, to weigh in with their unsurprising views, and some not knowing what to say.
Continue readingJehovah Rapha – The Lord Who Heals
Going through the names given to God in the Bible can be a thrilling and profitable exercise. In this presentation, I would like to consider one of those names, which can be found used in the Book of Exodus (Chapter 15), just after the Israelites had crossed the Red Sea – that name is “Jehovah Rapha”.
Continue readingTrumpwatch 69 – Money makes the World go round
Yet another Trumpwatch episode so soon after my last one, BUT so much is happening in the world where Trump features (and he features in a lot of it). Meanwhile, I watch the Cabaret and, while thinking that this is a central theme of one of my favourite musicals by that name (see here). I thought I would make this episode about another of Cabaret’s themes: Money (see here). The advice to “follow the money” is a sound one to getting to the bottom of things.
Continue readingSaudi Arabia, Muhammad bin Salman (MBS) and the coming Antichrist
There will be some reading this who will dismiss what follows as yet another rant by an unhinged conspiracy theorist (aka yours truly), with his customary hash attempt to connect the proverbial dots, but there will be others who will agree to varying extents with what I am about to say (and, as I usually do, adding my test and weigh caveat) and will welcome my sharing what I am seeing (I hope humbly) as I watch from my wall. While the non-humble part of me would like there to be a much bigger audience, I am grateful that the good Lord has kept me around to be a pain in the proverbial back side of those he wants to wake up, to do good and to warn to others.
Continue readingThe first three chapters of the Bible are the most important
Recently, my thoughts have once again turned to the words of the Book of Genesis, especially the first three chapters and, that of all the passages in the Bible, this one may be the most significant. We find many great doctrines introduced, many to be elaborated in the rest of the Bible, right up to the very end. Despite, at least in the eyes of many of the skeptics and detractors, these contain much that is of a controversial nature, we do ignore the words to our detriment.
