This is the third post in my “Watching on the wall and what I am presently seeing” trilogy. See here for the first and here for the second in the series. Having set the scene, I turn to what I am now seeing. It see a lot and it is hard to know where to begin and what to present. In my previous episode, I identified four important areas for consideration upon which I now elaborate, but also point out that I have already said a lot in my previous blogs (see here).

What is happening in the UK from a political, cultural and religious perspective
I will begin with an epiphany moment (not that I needed one) arising from an incident that took place almost a year to this day, followed by its aftermath. “On 29 July 2024, a mass stabbing targeting young girls occurred at the Hart Space, a dance studio in the Meols Cop area of Southport, Merseyside, United Kingdom. Seventeen-year-old Axel Rudakubana killed three children and injured ten others at a Taylor Swift–themed yoga and dance workshop attended by 26 children”. Sadly, incidents like this are not uncommon and also the growing anger when things like this happen that come as no surprise. In this case, it was the perception that the perpetrator was a Muslim immigrant that had been radicalised, that the authorities were doing too little about it and the police were more intent on two tier policing aimed at not upsetting Muslims but not so with the indigenous non Muslim, often Christian, population, along with the anger and frustration that we were losing our way as a nation. What followed could be construed as overreaction to the crime along with the dismissive attitude of the Starmer led UK government to the protestors, even calling out those who objected as far right, racist thugs, who he turned on as being the main villains, threatening to lock them up, and ignoring many concerns over immigration, Islamification and British identity.
Before I go on, I want to reiterate that I am not anti-immigrant and have blogged to say why that is. I know many (and even married to one) who are good people that contribute well to British life, and, moreover, who can blame any for leaving their country to escape oppression or for a better life for their families? I have also blogged, in the light of concerns over Islam taking over the country, that there are many fine Muslims, some I know and respect, who live decent lives and are no threat. But the immigrant issue has not gone away with more recently protests in places like Dover over immigrants arriving in boats being put up in hotels, many being military aged men, often Muslim and not of the sort inclined to integrate. Talking of hotels, there are protests outside a hotel in Epping following attacks on a girl by one of the immigrants staying there and even at allegations of biased policing including them bussing in anti-racists protestors to escalate the tensions. While there are other issues that I will get to, the above are likely contributory factors to what could spark riots and/or civil war in the near future. It is evident that there is a large body of those opposing the afore-mentioned “far right, racist, thugs”, more interested in such things as support for Pride events, the Green agenda and a variety of causes that would come under the woke umbrella.
Those who follow me will know I take a keen interest in politics without aligning to any party, including the Reform Party (for reasons I have given) who more than any among the main players would appear closest to championing the concerns I have raised. I have described myself as a Labour Party wannabe (perceived as being the champion of the poor and the underdog) that nowadays cannabe, but I can’t support Conservatives, LibDems or Greens either (also for reasons covered in previous blogs). When Labour won the General Election by an overwhelming majority, despite having less people voting for them than was the case in the previous General Election, a little over a year ago, it came as no surprise to many. But they turned out to be worse than I had feared, a feeling that increased soon after I had that epiphany moment. While there is opposition in the seats of power, so far it has been far too little.
Back to the issues raised above, evidence of a two-tier justice/police system mounts, e.g. the imprisonment of Lucy Connolly over a “racist” tweet whilst nothing is happening over Bob Vylan’s “Kill the IDF” much publicised rants. Then there was the treatment of Tommy Robinson, in effect a political prisoner. We have the continuing onslaught against free speech, the latest being the move to criminalise Islamophobia. For members of my own constituency (Christians of a c(not C)onservative ilk) the biggest concern arose over the Commons voting to kill babies in the mother’s womb up to the time of birth and allowing for the assisting of killing the elderly and vulnerable (all done in the space of a week). While we cannot blame Labour outright for this outcome (some Labour MPs voted against and some Conservatives for the passing of the Bills) this is indicative of the culture of death that we are seeing being played out, with the elderly being targeted, beginning with stopping winter fuel payments, a rise in cost of living along with more taxes and less benefits, that affect them. I could go on, citing the government stance on the War in Ukraine including its part in a proxy war, it’s signing up to the WHO pandemic treaty, continuing with its ruinous Green agenda, its enthusiasm for digital ids as a way to control the masses, its undemocratic getting back to the EU, its alignment with globalism, e.g. the WEF, and its failure to act against grooming gangs. But there is hope arising out of an awakening of the right sort and that is actually happening – for the things of God.
What is happening in the USA from a political, cultural and religious perspective
It has to begin with Trump, who I have been following, particularly in my Trumpwatch series, ever since he threw his hat into the ring as a contender in the 2016 US Presidential elections. As one who had been previously turned off by US politics, I became turned on because more than anywhere else it showed the culture wars being played out across the world and even more so – the battle ranging that has a major spiritual element, between the forces of light and those of darkness, and for a change the right side looked as if it might be winning. In a strange way, Trump has helped to inspire people the world over to take control back from the Cabal who run things. Let me make it clear: I do NOT see Trump aligning wholly with the forces of light despite my having been seen by many who know me as a Trump (rather than the other lot) supporter (I refer readers to my Trumpwatch series for more). The bottom line, as I see it, is that Trump, and no one else come to that, is NOT going to usher in a new golden age, much as I wished it were otherwise (and that will only happen when Jesus returns to planet earth. Before that there is the Great Tribulation and the emergence of the Antichrist).
Trump securing the US presidency in 2024 has given the world hope and a breathing space for the good guys (hopefully led by a revived church) to act before being prevented. It is interesting to note the stark difference been the Trump and Starmer ideologies with, ironically, more hope (humanly speaking) of Trump’s influence being able to reverse certain undesirable happenings and trends in the UK than from by UK’s elected representatives. We watch with interest at his attempts, that appear so far to be successful, of dismantling the US Deep State (drain the swamp), a move toward energy independence and reversing the Green led agenda and a return to common sense policies, e.g. regarding gender ideology. But we cannot let him off the hook when he does the wrong thing and the jury is out on his policy toward the likes of Russia, Ukraine, Iran and Israel, to name but four. While he has run on a platform of ending all wars in which the USA has had an interest (there being many), it is a matter of wait and see if that is what happens.
I can see many good signs, e.g. in bringing justice concerning an assortment of bad guys, often having held enormous power and misusing it. Then there are the actions of his inner circle, e.g. halting illegal immigration, promoting good health, fair trade deals and standing up against the forces of globalism. Yet one must recognise there are legitimate concerns, e.g. concerning health care to the poor and harshly deporting those without a right to stay. While Trump has backtracked on things like abortion, he has promoted religious freedom. I am seeing signs of uncovering the truth on events like past election fraud, the 2020 Capitol infiltration, the Russian collusion hoax, the Covid scamdemic, 9/11 and what really went on on Epstein Island. A lot is going on behind the scenes but I may be entering the realm of conspiracy theory to speculate! I am hopeful. Yet the truth is that Trump would appear to be more beholden to the “Art of the Deal” than “What would Jesus do”. As for the spiritual USA dimension, it, along with that of the UK, I will get to.
What is happening in Israel and the Middle East
There are several areas to consider: the aftermath of the Hamas October 7th 2023 attacks on Israel and the situation now in Gaza, the escalation of hostilities between Israel and Iran, and the regime change in Syria – to cite but three examples. All these are huge subjects and I cannot possibly do full justice to any in this article and once again I refer readers to past blogs and even my recent book “Priests of the Bible” for further thoughts. Regarding the latter, it pertains to my objection to the notion that Israel has been replaced by the Church when it comes to God’s plans now and in the future that is being pushed by many Christian leaders and in the light of the rumpus that arose from the Tucker Carlson, Ted Cruz interview when Senator Cruz expressed the view that God blesses those who bless Israel. Then there are daily claims, of deliberate attacks by the Israeli military on innocent Gazan occupants, resulting in many deaths, notably children. I certainly don’t see Israel through rose tinted spectacles and find that of Hamas and their allies with their avowed, demonic inspired aims to destroy Israel to be worse. I regret that it is the innocent and vulnerable that suffer most.
A number of the truthers mentioned in my previous posts in this series take the view that Israelis, led by Benjamen Netanyahu, are the bad guys, although some recognise that those they are meant to be fighting against, i.e. Hamas and its supporters, are just as bad. Much as I dislike sitting on the fence, I still cannot fully decide on where I stand on the matter. As often happens, truth is the victim and I see propaganda being peddled on all sides. But I lament the humanitarian disaster unfolding and that, perversely, the Unholy Trinity who have done their bit in shutting down objectors to the government of Israel, of which there are many, as is evidenced by the number of pro-Palestinian demonstrations. I do see a rise in antisemitism, that needs to be resisted, but it should not be equated with opposing the ideology of Zionism. I would like to reflect on what is happening elsewhere in the Middle East, e.g. Iran and Syria, especially the people and in particular my Christian brethren, but that will have to wait. Meanwhile I will continue to watch and pray.
What is happening elsewhere in the world
I will also forego a deep dive into what is happening elsewhere, besides the UK, US and Middle East. Much is happening of significance and related but this is a subject for another time.
Looking for hope
A long time ago, I came to a view that life wasn’t worth living if void of hope, not just in the life to come but also in the here and now. As I have often pointed out, it is folly to put one’s hope in man, however appealing he may seem and noting the coming One World ruler (the Antichrist) will entice many by his charm and ability to sort things out. It is why, now in my twilight years, I am focusing on living out the first of my “gospel preaching, community activist, watchman on the wall” descriptors of myself, recognising my priority is to help those who come after me, recognising that in order for God to use me he needs to break and humble me and for all who truly follow Him. I am heartened that God, who ever works in mysterious ways, is doing just that today. I am finding many are turning to Him, partly due to reacting to the craziness and deception that these days are rife, including young people tired of being fed lies and wanting a better way. His purpose is to build a true, remnant, glorious church (not a false, fragmented, disunited one) and there is a part for all of us to play, if we are up for it. As I thought on how best to end and to give reason for hope, I decided once again to return to Psalm 2 …
