Trumpwatch 47 – concerning the prophets

During the period November 3rd 2020, the day when the US Presidential election took place, and January 20th 2021, when President Biden was inaugurated, I posted ten Trumpwatch installments, yet in the nearly two months following, I posted none. People may wonder why and may think they have the answer.

I write to remedy this deficiency. There may be a number of reasons and even I cannot apportion the correct weighting concerning what is significant, but I want to share my thought process on reasons, how I see the situation right now and what could and should happen in the future. With the release of my second edition of “Prophets of the Bible, I want to consider the role of the prophetic.

Looking at the titles of my “between election and inauguration” Trumpwatch blogs, there was a note of defiance that blew in the face of what we were supposed to think by much of the political class and most media. Subtitles like “it ain’t over till the fat lady sings”, “the “Red Sea” moment” and “when the Dominos fall” are obvious giveaways. For reasons given in my Donald J. Trump ebook, I not only believed the desirability of a Trump win over a Biden one was huge but, despite what the political pundits said, he would win. Then, when it became clear that officially he had not won and with claims of industrial scale electoral fraud, I expected at various junctures between 03/11/20 and 20/01/21 the result would be reversed and fair play – Trump would be declared the winner.

I confess I was over-confident in my belief that POTUS 45, who I saw / see as a King Cyrus type figure – anointed by God, would also be crowned POTUS 46. Following from when Biden was inaugurated and after that, with him doing all the bad things I feared (evidenced by his spate of harmful Executive Orders); giving to the bad people the power I had expected he would; showing his dementia that was all too evident before becoming President and now seems to have gotten worse and him being controlled by “who knows who” but it was always going to happen and these would be mainly the bad guys; along with the US Supreme Court that seems to show no interest in ensuring justice is done or compelling evidence is examined, I might be expected to be depressed, disillusioned etc.

While some of that did happen for a time, there is a time, just as “the Preacher” reflected: “To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven” (Ecclesiastes 3:1) and “He hath made every thing beautiful in his time” (3:11). My point is God is in control and He is the God of truth, righteousness and justice and His ways (and timing) are perfect, despite when things look bad. Not only does it seem there is little to comment on that is new in the world of Trump (with Trump going relatively quiet), unlike in the four years in which he was President, but sometimes heaven seems as brass – all of which are indications why my Trumpwatch posts have dried up of late and I had to force myself to write this one.

The matter of figuring out what is going on in the world is a challenging one and sometimes it often seems like having to choose between the rock (lying mainstream media) and the hard place (what “conspiracy theorists” say). I have taken a partial sabbatical on mainstream media and while I should do the same with the conspiracy theorists, given they are often saying what I want to hear, like Trump will return as President and along with the military has everything covered and the good news – the longer it all goes on the more the swamp is being exposed and when “the dam breaks” (to cite another earlier sub-title) it will be huge, it is sometimes hard to resist. I must admit that I rather like the thought of sit back and enjoy the show, although “watch” should be accompanied by “pray”.

It brings me to the “Prophets” or rather those prophets I labelled in my book as the “Political Prophets”, many of which have predicted a Trump second term, although a few have succumbed to the pressure to renege on what they had prophesied. It is not my purpose here to offer a view on which of these “prophets” are true and which are false or dismiss the warnings of Jesus there will be many false prophets. I discuss the tests for true and false prophets in my book and will always urge on people to “test and weigh” what is said. I also recognise an important consideration is whether there will be ruin (as long as Biden and his handlers continue “in power”) or revival (should Trump return to drain the swamp). I have no doubt who is President has considerable bearing on the world at large. I am not a prophet and the Bible doesn’t say – in fact my reading of the Bible is, while God hears the cries of those who are oppressed and is interested in bringing revival and His Church, we are heading toward the Great Tribulation and the reign of the Antichrist – after which the Lord Jesus will return in glory and all Israel will be saved.

But having done a good deal of testing and weighing, I have come to a view that many of these “Trump second term political prophets” are the real deal and God is ripe ready to judge evil doers, in the here and now and not just the hereafter, and wants to bring about revival (and in unlikely places this is already happening – but it also needs to start in the Church). But what I think is neither here nor there; I am merely a Watchman on the Wall (whose job in Bible times was to warn). We need to be reconciled with God if we do not believe and, if we do, we need to learn from the lesson taught by the last Old Testament prophet: “And he shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver: and he shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the Lord an offering in righteousness” Malachi 3:3. While it may be a step too far for some to pray for the return of Trump, we can still pray, along with another prophet: “O Lord, I have heard thy speech, and was afraid: O Lord, revive thy work in the midst of the years, in the midst of the years make known; in wrath remember mercy” Habakkuk 3:2.
