So I am now onto Jeremiah in my writing up of my next chapter of my “Prophets of the Bible” book. I suppose if I have a favorite prophet and one I could identify with particularly (even though I don’t claim to be a prophet) then a strong case might be made for Jeremiah, but more about him later.
The last chapter I finished, the draft of which I posted online was “Balaam and assorted false prophets”. I have kept my cards close to my chest thus far concerning the situation we find ourselves in today other than on what the Bible prophesied would happen, realizing even my straight forward Bible exposition will be controversial in the eyes of some / many and I would much rather readers learn something significant about (all) the prophets of the Bible than be put off if I were to over pontificate on who are the true (and false) prophets around today or speculate what will happen next in God’s prophetic timeline. But I have at least pushed the boat out by writing an article (some of which I may incorporate in my final chapter) titled: “Are there prophets today and does it matter if there are?” I just checked and I did not name names.
But one name that keeps cropping up is Veronika West and the reason I have taken an interest is because I find some of what she writes interesting and pertinent to the situation we face today, and she is also respected by Christians who I respect, unlike Christians in national leadership positions who I do not respect and don’t speak what God is saying. One charismatic pastor friend, who unlike cessationist types (sadly) in my own church actually reckons the gift of prophecy is for today, would likely reject Veronika West as a true prophet (just as he has Mark Taylor and Kim Clement). All of these have prophesied favourably concerning Trump, someone who (sadly) many in leadership positions regard as the pits and needs to go. Before I continue with specific stuff Veronika West has prophesied, I would point readers to my twenty points comparing true and false prophets in my “Balaam and assorted false prophets” article and to “Quench not the Spirit. Despise not prophesyings. Prove all things” 1Thessalonians 5:19-21. I am not here to endorse or otherwise Veronika West. While favourably disposed to what she has prophesied and I do not detect falsehood in her prophecies, I am nevertheless still in the “prove all things” phase.
Two prophesies of interest are titled “The LORD Will Blow the Demonic Spiderwebs Off America and the UK” and “A Dream About Donald Trump” and can be found on her website. It is the second mentioned here I am interested in particularly, even and especially as the prophesy was given three years ago. She posted a link to the prophesy on her website TODAY prefacing with the comments “I felt impressed to share this poignant Dream with those of you who are standing in the gap for President Donald Trump in this hour, this dream was posted exactly 3 years ago to the day….,I believe this dream is both encouraging and yet it is also provoking for the purpose of FERVENT AND UNRELENTING PRAYER…! But today…4June 2020…as I woke up, I heard the Spirit say concerning the Nation of America and President Trump….”FOR MY LOVE AND MERCY WILL TRIUMPH OVER HATRED, DIVISIONS AND INJUSTICE…WATCH AND PRAY, AS MY GOVERNING HAND MOVES TO BRING FORTH SWIFT AND SUDDEN SUPERNATURAL REVERSALS TO THAT WHICH SOUGHT TO BRING GREAT DESTRUCTION UPON THE LAND….FOR I SAY…NO! THE TIME FOR DESTRUCTION HAS NOT YET COME…BUT NOW IS THE TIME OF DIVINE DELIVERANCE AND A GREATER MANIFESTATION OF MY GLORY IN THE EARTH”…!!”. As for the prophesy (check it out) it points to the situation in Exodus 17 with Moses on a mountain lifting his hands up to heaven, supported by Aaron and Hur and, while this was so, Joshua who was fighting the battle down in the valley prevailed against the Amalekites. Given what is happening TODAY, the sharing of this prophecy would appear timely. As a side note, on the subject of prophecies made in the past coming to past in the present, I would not only refer to Mark Taylor and Kim Clement but also David Wilkerson concerning pandemics and riots.
But back to the first half of the title and Jeremiah. Jeremiah is rightly seen as a prophet of doom became unpopular because of his message. In his case there was no “hope for the best” scenario. He could look back near the end of his life: “How doth the city sit solitary, that was full of people! how is she become as a widow! she that was great among the nations, and princess among the provinces, how is she become tributary! She weepeth sore in the night, and her tears are on her cheeks: among all her lovers she hath none to comfort her: all her friends have dealt treacherously with her, they are become her enemies. Judah is gone into captivity because of affliction, and because of great servitude: she dwelleth among the heathen, she findeth no rest: all her persecutors overtook her between the straits” Lamentations 1:1-3. While there were notes of hope, e.g. “My soul hath them still in remembrance, and is humbled in me. This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope. It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. The Lord is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him. The Lord is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him” Lamentations 3:20-25, but much of what he prophesied was a message of judgment. If there was a hope, it was future: “But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the Lord, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people. And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the Lord: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more … In those days, and at that time, will I cause the Branch of righteousness to grow up unto David; and he shall execute judgment and righteousness in the land” Jeremiah 31:33-34, 33:15
There is no doubt that still not yet half way through 2020 we have seen some amazing and disturbing things happening and, like him on not, Donald Trump has been a significant player. As we come out of Covid-19 lockdown and see rioting on the streets, it is with human consternation if taking the view of Bible prophecy that I take. While America and Britain have a marvelous Christian heritage and whether with reference to the USA Declaration of Independence or the UK Coronation Oath, both countries have been looked upon as beacons of hope by the rest of the world but hope is wearing thin with both countries ripe for judgement for comparable reasons Jeremiah gave because of Israel’s wickedness, starting with killing babies in the mothers womb. The USA and Britain are NOT Israel, that enjoyed a special covenant relationship (likened to marriage) with the Almighty. But the trajectory is still the same – wickedness makes nations ripe for God’s judgement and just maybe we are moving head long into the New World Order that will be ruled over by the AntiChrist when the persecution of true believers will accelerate and more calamities will be heaped on us all.
Again, quoting Jeremiah (6:14), when it comes to the false prophets of his day, “They have also healed the hurt of My people slightly, Saying, ‘Peace, peace!’ When there is no peace”, could this be applied to Veronika West and her prophecies? No wonder Jeremiah was unpopular! My skeptical charismatic pastor friend could be right – I like the likes of West, Taylor and Clement because their wrong view of Trump happens to align with my own. While the people who accepted the false prophets of Jeremiah’s day did so as much on the basis they said what they wanted to here, if we are to compare with the West, Taylor and Clement followers of today, many who accept the words of these modern day prophets are godly! All of us are looking for hope but it must not be following those who say what we want to hear but rather in the Lord. I am not sure how many people are still with me at this point but I will end on a positive note. I want the good guys to win more than anyone and continually grieve to see evil being called good. As Alex Jones might say, half of the Washington elite, and no doubt their allies in mainstream media and other influential positions and its UK equivalent, are scum and, as unlikely as it may seem, and as flawed as he is, God has raised Donald J Trump up for such a time as this and among many other things that includes draining the swamp, which if Q-Anon is to be believed will happen in dramatic fashion very soon and the blood of murdered minors will be avenged and the lies that have hitherto rained down on us will be exposed, as well as a harvest of souls.
A Cyrus or even a Jehu (before he turned bad) Trump could be compared to but I somehow cannot picture Trump as a modern-day Moses prayerfully raising his hands to heaven (but miracles do happen and the Lord God of Israel works in mysterious ways). But we can be like Aaron or Hur lifting his arms by way of support or rather raising our voices to heaven for revival to happen. As for the church, many of its leaders seem like the false prophets of Jeremiah’s day, who he denounced. And yet Christ is building His CHURCH and this is evidenced by HIS People being quickened in spirit and His work among the nations as people turn to Him. Maybe, unlike Jeremiah, the point of no return has not yet arrived and the Lord will have mercy on us again and hear our prayers.
Update 16/02/2021: It never ceases to amaze me which of my blogs people read and which they don’t. This one on Veronica West has proved one of the most popular. I still maintain I tried to give a balance assessment using the recommended test of the Apostle Paul. “Quench not the Spirit. Despise not prophesyings. Prove all things; hold fast that which is good” 1Thesselonians 5:19-21. While I do not follow her regularly, I am aware of her prophesying, and I am more inclined than not to a view she is the real deal. She is one of the still significant band that believe God has chosen Donald Trump and he will yet serve a second term as US President. Because of the turmoil around Trump, especially regarding the November 11th election that many on Trump’s side see as stolen, it has been a testing time for both Trump and “political prophets” supporters, leading one to take a more measured view, including God is not in a hurry and will do things in a way none of us expect, including turning Trump into a Moses type figure. My thoughts on the “political prophets”, including Veronica West, are given in my blog: 2020, 2021 and the prophetic (2).
Update 11/08/11: (the twentieth anniversary of the attach on the twin towns) and still this remains one of my more popular postings – and I can see why. Veronica West continues to post prolifically and people what to know whether or not she is the real deal. The best I can say, despite certain reservations, I believe she is. Her, today’s posting was disturbing and whatever our views are on modern day prophets we are called to prayer as never before.
You can’t go past Jeremiah, “they have healed the hurts of my people slightly, saying Peace Peace”
God brought judgement on Israel, Jesus talked about it when he wept over Jerusalem.
Are we any different?
Quite likely no! and yet when we look at the history of our (Uk & USA) countries we see times when the Lord has blessed and brought revival. And yet we have gone even further away from God as nations in recent years and might only expect judgment. I really hope Veronica West’s optimism is borne out and for the prayers of the righteous to be answered by seasons of refreshing (we will soon see) and for evil to be exposed and righteousness to happen, despite expectation of the eventual reign of the AntiChrist. I dare not say what it is to be in the short term – but Jeremiah’s call for people to repent and the call to His people to draw near to Him is ever pertinent for our times.
