My recent deep dive into the Bible has been in the Book of Daniel, a book I have previously studied on a number of occasions. It is well known for containing memorable stories a child could comprehend and profound prophecies that scholars and saints argue over. Each time I do so something fresh and new has come out of it.

Jeremiah, possibly my favourite Bible prophet
If I were asked who is my favourite footballer or cricketer, I would no doubt eventually come up with a name, but I would have been hard pushed to do so because there are several candidates that might have fitted the bill. I face a similar conundrum when it comes to selecting who is my favourite Bible prophet.
Continue readingBack to the Emmaus Road and introducing Christ in the prophets
Right now, I’m doing a deep dive into “Christ in the Old Testament” (see here and here), and have already written on what the Books of Moses have to say on the subject (see here and here), doing so from a prophetic, types and shadows and christophany perspective.
Continue readingI had a dream
I often have dreams and many are weird and forgettable, despite in most cases not remembering what it was that I had dreamed about.
Continue readingTrumpwatch 68 – Israel/Gaza, Christian Zionism, Noahide Laws, Third Temple, Prophecy
The story has been told of someone who has been waiting for a bus for a long time and then more than one turns up in a matter of minutes. I have this picture in mind as I write this my third earth shattering Trumpwatch episode in a month, noting that lots of huge significance has happened under Trump since being installed as POTUS only three weeks ago. Strangely (or is it, given that God ever works in mysterious ways) an event that theologians have often referred to as the Olivet Discourse keeps coming onto my horizons, in particular that part of it that begins with the words: “Just as it was in the days of Noah”.
Continue readingChrist in the Books of Moses
In a recent post (see here), I announced my intention to do a series on Christ in the Old Testament, which in the Hebrew Bible can be divided into three sections (Law, Prophets, Writings), referring back to two incidents recorded in Luke 24, following Jesus rising from the dead, when he told his bemused disciples how His life, death and resurrection were all foretold in the Old Testament.
Continue readingDaniel’s Four Visions – Vision 3: (Daniel 9) Daniel’s Seventy Weeks
Having introduced my latest Bible focused project (see here), which is to write about Daniel’s four visions, then turning our attention to the first of these (see here) and the second of these visions (see here), we turn to his third vision concerning “the Seventy Weeks”, following his amazing prayer.
Continue readingDaniel’s Four Visions – Vision 1: (Daniel 7) Daniel’s Dream of Four Beasts
Having earlier introduced my latest Bible focused project (see here), which was to write about Daniel’s four visions, let us turn our attention to the first of these, recognising that as with all his visions there is a wide range of interpretations and applications on offer from folk who know and communicate their understanding.
Continue readingDaniel’s Four Visions – An Introduction
There is much that can be said about Daniel the prophet and the Book of Daniel in the Old Testament, a good deal of which I have already begun to say (see here and here).
