I first came across the Archers in my boyhood and I have been a regular follower, with few breaks, of the world’s longest running soap opera since the late 1970’s. I recently had an experience as a result of posting on the Facebook page that brings together fellow Archer’s followers and it provided a salutary lesson I want to share.
Continue readingAttacks on free speech and how we might prepare for the worst
I am not sure how to begin but what I want to say comes as a result of my watching on the wall and warning people concerning what I am seeing (albeit limited) and expecting to happen (also based on what I find in the Bible). It doesn’t make for pleasant reading and when I say what I feel I need to say I expect to get flak from my detractors and get it, as has recently turned out to be the case.

I recently picked up and read the book titled “Father of Faith Missions – The Life and Times of Anthony Norris Groves” by Robert Bernard Dann.
Continue readingLooking back at the Paris 2024 Olympics
I’d always imagined I would be blogging about the Olympics just past for the simple reason that as a blogger that sometimes, by way of light relief from the some of the heavier stuff I blog about, I like to reflect on major sporting happenings. And there is nothing more major than the Olympic Games.
Continue readingGraham Thorpe and mental health awareness
Over the years and especially in recent years there have been many sports personalities I have admired that have died. Recent we learned of the death of the cricketer Graham Thorpe.
Continue readingAre we in or heading for a civil war?
According to Wikipedia: “A civil war is a war between organized groups within the same state (or country). Continue readingA summer of attacks and riots in Britain and unravelling the ‘narrative’
Ever since Labour won its landslide victory in the British General Election a month ago, I have been chomping at the bit wanting to write on how they are doing along with developments on the world stage. While a lot can be usefully be said, other things have occupied my attention as a watchman on the wall blogger and, besides which, this (for me) may be the season to watch and pray and getting right with God so I can be best prepared to face the worse that is to come and help those affected, rather than wax lyrical on what I see so that the few people who check me out can be wised up.
Continue readingThe 2024 Paris Olympics – the Opening Ceremony
Yesterday, my social media feeds were inundated with righteously indignant folk posting concerning their disgust at some of what had gone on during the Opening Ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Continue readingEuro 2024 and a summer of sport
As folk who read my sports related blogs might gather, I have been a keen fan of a wide range of sports, following sporting events at the highest levels and back in the day modestly participating in several.
