I can’t remember the first TV programme I watched but I recall that as a nine-year-old when I watched TV in a friend’s house and it was to do with the 1960 Rome Olympics. It was not until some time after when my parents acquired their own TV. It was deemed to be a luxury that many couldn’t afford and it was then normal to rent sets. Televisions were black and while and confined to BBC and ITV. Colour TVs did not appear until I was in my twenties.

Watching on the wall and what I am presently seeing (2)
When I wrote part 1 two days ago, of what will likely turn out to be a trilogy of my thoughts to do with: “Watching on the wall and what I am presently seeing” (see here), I knew it was going to be a huge subject to tackle. After having written in order to set the scene and doing a big update the next day, I recognised that I had not even got into the nitty gritty of considering what has truly been going on.

Six weeks ago, I posted on my website an article titled: “Thank God for the Truthers” (see here). What I am posting here is by way of a follow up, with both posts to do with my own watching on the wall remit (notwithstanding that some of my detractors have accused me of being a self rather than a God appointed watchman).
Continue readingReflecting on “Chief men among the Brethren” and my three unlikely choices
When Pickering wrote his book, it is likely there was a good deal of consensus as to who qualifies for the accolade “Chief man among the Brethren”. With so much fragmentation in the Brethren movement and a growing international dimension, nowadays this is less likely.

On the Saturday just gone, my city (Southend) held its annual (LBGTQ+) Pride event and most of the reports coming back have hailed it as a roaring success. I would have attended for a multitude of reasons but decided given my own issues around disability it was wiser not to. I don’t want to rewind the gramophone record, but if you want to know more check out here for my reflections on the 2024 event, my thoughts on preaching and pride and why I would have attended this year’s event if I could. See also my “Why (And How) Christians Should Celebrate Pride“, I wrote in 2018.
Continue readingNotes on Isaiah
Following my recent blog titled “Back to the Emmaus Road and introducing Christ in the prophets” (see here), I want this to be on the first concerning the prophets I am wanting to cover – Isaiah. Rather than a bringing a polished presentation on a huge subject, I offer here the notes I used for the two sessions held at my church when I considered the subject: “Christ in the Old Testament – focussing on the Gospel of Isaiah”.
Continue readingRemembering John MacArthur
“Today we remember the life of Dr. John Fullerton MacArthur Jr. (June 19, 1939 – July 14, 2025) who was the pastor of Grace Community Church in Sun Valley, California. MacArthur was the teaching pastor of the church since February 9, 1969. MacArthur was an acclaimed Christian author and the founder of Grace to You, an internet, radio, and TV broadcast ministry. He was also the chancellor emeritus of The Master’s University and The Master’s Seminary. Above all, he was a humble and faithful servant of the Lord Jesus Christ”.
Continue readingTrust Links – celebrating 25 years – some personal reflections
Yesterday, my wife and I visited the Growing Together Gardens in Prittlewell for the occasion of celebrating 25 years since it began, where we spent an amazing three hours down memory lane.
Continue readingBack to the Emmaus Road and introducing Christ in the prophets
Right now, I’m doing a deep dive into “Christ in the Old Testament” (see here and here), and have already written on what the Books of Moses have to say on the subject (see here and here), doing so from a prophetic, types and shadows and christophany perspective.
