On January 13th 2026 I posted my blog titled: “What is going on in Iran” (see here). Given much has gone on since, involving Iran, of enormous magnitude, this follow up is in order.

It was no surprise that, after then, hostilities, particularlyinvolving Iran and the USA and Israel, began to escalate, evidenced by the build up of USA armed forces in the surrounding region. The current violent hostilities involving Iran, USA, and Israel began on February 28, 2026. On this day, the US and Israel launched a coordinated air campaign, known as Operation Roaring Lion, targeting Iran’s military capabilities, leadership, and nuclear program. The opening strike achieved surprise, eliminating over 40 senior Iranian officials, including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. The initial attack involved approximately 200 Israeli fighter jets and US aircraft, striking hundreds of targets, including missile launchers, command centres, and air defence batteries. The strikes destroyed around 80% of Iran’s air defence systems and over 300 ballistic missile launchers. In response, Iran launched retaliatory attacks, including drone and missile strikes, targeting US and Israeli forces, as well as Gulf countries hosting US forces. The conflict has escalated, with both sides exchanging strikes, resulting in civilian casualties and disruptions to airspace and transport routes.

Those hostilities have continued ever since that time and are ongoing, and we are all left to wonder what will happen next and the eventual outcome. Much has been written or spoken about what is happening, particularly from the normal suspects who I habitually check out, bearing in mind they offer a wide range of views, not just on the rights and wrongs of what is going on but concerning all sorts of important related subjects including, for me, the future of Trumpism, Israel, the Iran Church and End Times prophecy. Because of the significance of what is taking place, ever since I checked out the news last weekend, I knew that I had to do this follow-up to this earlier post, mindful that not only is there much I don’t know, noting my distrust of mainstream media and even the good guys from alternative media. While I want to take a view and do so fairly, but especially given my antipathy to those who run Iran (and definitely not its people, who I will get to) and being seen as being more pro rather than anti Trump and Bibi, I realise that in my case I particularly need to be beholden to the facts and the truth.
I haven’t taken the task of writing, which is no where as in-depth as I would like it to be, lightly, and I have gone down several rabbit holes in order to gather my thoughts, including checking out well-known names and seeing what they have said and written, mindful of the different axioms each one holds and the need to ration my time when other writing projects beckon, not to get stuck down any of these rabbit holes or go off on too many tangents. The big question to begin with is whether or not the current round of hostilities, initiated by the USA and Israel, was justified, while noting Iran through its state sponsored terrorism has cause endless havoc in the region and can rightly be seen as a threat, and that diplomatic efforts to get a solution do not work. I have listened to arguments from all sides, including credible claims and counter claims that both sides have done bad things that have harmed the innocent.
I don’t have a definitive view one way or the other, especially not knowing all what is going on that is relevant in order to make up my mind and what is right rather than on feelings and what people I typically agree with think is right, realising too that Iran is led by an odious and oppressive (of its own people) regime and no tear will be shed to see them gone (a good reason for voting for the Green Party, who would, btw). I have little doubt the USA and Israel are looking for regime change and that is their main goal. It is a salutary fact that the USA has a long history of effecting regime change for their own dubious ends. In 1951, Prime Minister Mossadegh, who was put in power by the WW2 allies, nationalized Iran’s oil industry, thus threatening Western interests. In 1953, the USA’s CIA and UK’s MI6 orchestrated a coup, removing Mossadegh. In 1953, the Shah that would later be deposed, in the 1979 Iranian revolution, returned to power, aligning with US/West, and reversed nationalization (oil concessions to West). Whether what comes next by way of regime change involves Kurd insurgents or supporters of the son of the late Shah or whoever, who knows, but this is a matter of grave concern.
There is plenteous evidence that what is what is now happening is affecting both the civilian people of Iran, through USA/Israel bombing etc., and there are numerous Israeli casualties (often hushed up) as a result of Iran retaliations as well as in several countries of the Middle East seen as complicit. On top of that there are many who are caught in the cross fire of what is going on, who have nothing to do with wanting the conflict now taking place. It will inevitably extend worldwide for such actions have consequences. So far, some of the great powers, such as China and Russia have appeared to stay out of it, but there is little doubt they are watching with interest and ready to step in. While a lot more could be said, rather than make this overlong, I would like to come back to four subjects of interest that have a bearing on what is happening.
Firstly, I would like to consider the part played by Donald Trump. Whether he initiated the attacks on Iran on his own volition or if he is in the pockets of Israeli bad actors or, as crazy as it seems, according to at least two respected commentators, stringing Israel along in order to expose them, or whether he is taking on the King Jehu type assignment of draining the swamp of today that is global, or whether he is a psychopath that believes the end justifies the means, yet even so is doing much good, or whether he is either a pantomime hero to bring down the globalist cabal or a pantomime villain, when having got the rid of the current set of baddies, he brings in another set (wittingly or no) that then go on to usher in the reign of the Antichrist, I am unable to say for sure. I suspect, it could be mixture of all the above, but I have little doubt he is subject to pressures and knows stuff that we don’t. One hidden consequence may be the sort of political revolution needed in my own country, the UK, that are led by a regime and opposed by hopefuls wanting to replace it, with all woefully ignorant of what is really going on in the UK and Iran, where a war like we are seeing could wake people up.
Secondly, I would like to consider what the prophets have to say. The Bible prophets talk about various End Times wars, particularly involving Israel, although modern interpretations differ. It can be argued that what we are now seeing relates. Key conflicts include:
– Gog and Magog (Ezekiel 38-39): Prophecy of a coalition led by Gog (often associated with Russia or a northern alliance) attacking Israel. God intervenes, defeating them.
– Armageddon (Revelation 16:16): A gathering of nations for battle (Mount Megiddo, Israel). This is part of the final judgment/Bowl judgments, often seen as distinct from Gog/Magog.
There is a lot more and pertinent to these deliberations, e.g. the vision of Daniel in Daniel 10 that relate to a war involving spiritual principalities, including that of Persia and affecting Israel. It is well to reminded: while we normally see things just on a human level, there is a spiritual war going on behind the scenes.
Then there are modern day prophets with things to say about the current conflict, although much of this ignored by most, including many Christians. The prophecies of the late Kim Clement (see here) are pertinent and having checked some of these out would seem to have predicted a lot of what we are now seeing.
Thirdly, something should be said about the Iranian people, many of whom, with their own rich culture and traditions, have been far from willing supporters of this hard-line Islamic regime. Many are Christians, with estimates being between 1 – 2 million in number, a huge rise from where it was, 1 – 2 hundred, thousand at the time of the 1979 Islamic revolution, and at the same time there has been the closure of many mosques. This make Iran one of the countries in the world where Christianity is growing fastest with many remarkable conversion stories to be had. Many Christians have been persecuted for practising their faith. Some commentators have taken note that the taking out of Iran’s top leadership was during the Feast of Purim, which celebrates the deliverance of the Jews at the time of Esther from annihilation, and seeing what happened with the take out of Iran’s top leaders as a sign of God’s judgment.
Fourthly, we are now accustomed to seeing Israel taking centre stage in world events. For some, like myself, this comes as no surprise as the Jewish people, descendants of Abraham, have NOT been replaced as an object of divine favour and as a result subject to demonic attack. There are many Bible prophecies relating to End Times and which involve the land of Israel and the Jewish people and are either in the process of being fulfilled or to be fulfilled. Where I differ from some of my Christian Zionist friends is that Israel, or rather elements of its leadership and Israel’s Deep State, are NOT the entirely wronged party in the whole affair, and some criticism over its actions are or may be valid, for example in Gaza, and for its Greater Israel aims, which at its core is about the idea of a Jewish homeland that encompasses a larger territory than the current State of Israel, often citing promises, such as as in Genesis 15:18 and historical connections to the land, yet at its worst displacing or oppressing peoples who live in the lands that some unchristian Zionists have designs on. It is a complex subject but the growing tide of Anti-Semitism and, with a world hating Israel fueled by these and other recent events, this is a matter of real concern.

I hope that readers will have found these thoughts helpful, even if not fully in agreement. I am mindful that I have stuck my head quite a bit over the parapet and am all too conscious of what happens to whistle blowers and the like who do, but we, especially if we are Christian, must watch and pray, test and weigh, and seek and speak truth on these vital matters. But now, I must close and as I often do when tackling subjects of this nature, end by pointing people to the God of Israel, who also loves the Iranian people who, along with the people of Israel, we should be praying for, as well as for all those affected by what is happening, which will have enormous ramifications in the coming days. Importantly, I urge readers to put your trust Him and mediate on Psalm 2, as well as to rejoice that the day is coming soon when King Jesus will reign from Zion.
