Watching on the wall and what I am presently seeing (1)

Six weeks ago, I posted on my website an article titled: “Thank God for the Truthers” (see here). What I am posting here is by way of a follow up, with both posts to do with my own watching on the wall remit (notwithstanding that some of my detractors have accused me of being a self rather than a God appointed watchman).

Around the turn of the millennium, soon after changing careers from computer consultant, I described myself as a “community activist”, later prefixing this with “gospel preaching”. Then as I began my awakening to what (I thought) was really going on with the world, sparked in part by things like Trump putting his hat in the ring, in 2016, to be the next US president, a referendum for Britain leaving EU and becoming aware of people offering views that differed from “the narrative” (often labelled as conspiracy theorists) as to what was really going on in the world, I later added a suffix. If you check out my Facebook page, you will see that these days I declare: “I am a gospel preaching, community activist, watchman on the wall”. I took as a role model the children of Issachar, having been disturbed that too few Christians were/are rightly watching.

I entered the blogosphere in 2014 and my first blog was titled “Hello World” (see here). Little did I realise then that I would be posting (to date) 2466 blog articles on my website and a good number of those were to do with what I saw (and, sadly, too often those I would hope or expect to see did/do not see), as a result of watching on my wall. It has been a rollercoaster ride and often I feel like the person who puts his head over the parapet, only to be shot down. In the process, I have upset many, including pillars of the community and also, of deeper concern, some pillars of the church.

I have sometimes been misled and had to retract but in the main I stand by what I said or wrote, especially as more evidence came to light. The main thing is to pursue the truth and is why the 16 people I cited in my truther blog are so important in this ongoing quest to understand the times we are living in and how to respond. While all of my truthers get some things wrong, sometimes big time, often they point out what mainstream media miss but overall what they come out with enables me to do what watchmen are meant to do – warn people of impending danger and even more importantly help steer away the true Church from error and in the right direction!

Since I wrote my “truther” blog, I have found two more truthers creating a favourable impression. One is Montgomery Toms who during the Covid crisis, notably with the lockdowns, as a fourteen year old, saw Covid for what it was and now posts on his website (see here) e.g. “I saw lockdowns for what they were: one of the most outrageous and brutal attacks on young people in modern history. Since then, I have relentlessly fought against global authoritarianism, centralisation, Agenda 2030, and undemocratic government overreach through grassroots campaigns and a tireless mission to awaken young people to what is really happening in the UK – the erosion of freedom, democracy, and common sense”. The other is Chris Wickland. He is the first of my truthers that appear to be on my wavelength theologically speaking and he has his own YouTube channel (see here). Having listened to some of his broadcasts, I find a lot of what he says is pertinent to understanding the times we live in. He introduces himself on his Facebook page thus (see here): “Chris Wickland is a Pastor who carries a prophetic heart for the UK … Senior Pastor and Broadcaster for LCBN TV at Living Word Church Network and LCBN TV”. (See here) for his church’s website.

I mention this, not to eulogise Montgomery Toms, Chris Wickland and my other sixteen truthers, but to respectfully suggest you check them out ahead of the BBC, CNN, and other regular news outlets. I also urge caution and point out matters giving concern are rarely as they seem and often we need to put some things into our more checking needed file as we can’t say for sure what is true. Sometimes my truthers get things horribly wrong and even disagree among themselves, e.g. on the matter of Israel, BUT they provide a valuable and much needed service for other truth seekers, providing one tests and weighs and chew the meat while spitting out the bones.

They provide an important counter to the “Unholy Trinity” (media, politicians, elites) who brainwash the masses with their narrative and withhold information and perspectives people ought to be aware off. In addition, it partly lets me of the hook in my watching. So much of consequence is going on around us. There are not enough hours in the day, cells in the brain, knowledge of facts that relate and access to what is going on behind closed doors. Therefore, I am grateful for this growing band of truthers to help inform me and offer a view even if reject or fail to take in all what they have to say, stressing the best source for truth is the Bible, prayerfully applied.

Also, in the six weeks that has passed since my truther blog, lots have been going on in all four corners of the planet that merit some sort of commentary by yours truly. I hope to reflect on some of what I am seeing in a soon to follow sequel to this blog (so watch this space). Back in the day, I might have fired off a number of blogs on a number of different topics, sometimes doing so without knowing all the facts or understanding other views, but I have mellowed and got smarter! I learned a long time ago of the need for wisdom and biding one’s time, recognising I often do not possess all the necessary facts and I need to do more reflecting to come to all fully rounded view.

The big question facing us is what to do by way of response, the very question faced by the Children of Issachar. Sometimes there is little one can do for we are powerless. For Christians (my main audience) it is a matter of enquiring of the Almighty and putting in one’s trust in and obeying Him and not in any man, however worthy or credible he appears to be. One thing I am seeing, and it is lovely to behold, is a renewed interest in the God of the Bible as opposed to New Age spirituality or wishy-washy Christianity, with folk recognising and going against the Antichrist led spirit of the age. I have no doubt something else big will break soon, and especially in the light of the civil unrest and societal division we are now seeing.

I can’t help thinking historically and going back to the eighteenth century when such was also the case. In France it culminated in the French Revolution and the Reign of Terror. In Britain, we were spared that and had a religious revival led by the likes of John Wesley and George Whitefield. I hope for something akin to this, but rather than write blogs few are going to read add to watch – pray for such a revival, a return to righteousness, the true church to ditch error and disunity and replace it with truth and unity, and play my part in supporting and encouraging those who God is touching.

Update 19/07/2025

As is often the case, when I write about something that highlights my passions, I come back the next day and think of things I could have written (and is why I did a big edit on what I wrote yesterday). It concerns who to add to my list of favoured truthers. There are many from the past who qualify for that acclaim, such as Steve Bannon and Mel K and from a more Christian perspective despite him effectively dismissing me when I sought to engage with him over Israel and replacement theology – Calvin Robinson, so where to end? Another helpful Christian voice concerning current events is that of Tony Pearce (see here). All have helped my understanding but more than anyone it is the Holy Spirit through the Bible.

But as I was beginning to work on a sequel to this article, I decided to revisit Remnant TV and its host – Michael Matt (see here for their website). Again there are areas of disagreement – he is a staunch Catholic who champions the Latin Mass and is firmly of the opinion that Israel are the bad guys when it comes to what is happening in Gaza. But today I listened to some recent broadcasts and was blown away because he made important points not seen elsewhere. One firing me up in particular was the point he made of people trying to do the right thing and regrettably falling out with each other and missing a trick – in his case it was Catholics and papal authority and in mine (the latest in a long line) John MacArthur and Calvinism. One issue I am wrestling with for my follow up blog is Israel – right or wrong, chosen people or not. As evidenced in his recent “ZIONISM: There’s Nothing Christian About It” broadcast (see here) some of what he says is spot on and some is decidedly not e.g. his replacement theology, and therein lies our “Can You Handle the Truth” quandary. I conclude by going back to the old gramophone record, declaring seeking and fighting for truth, provided it is tempered by love, is of paramount importance.
