One of my latest Bible study projects is to go through all of the Old Testament and reflect on those texts that have something to do with Jesus Christ. I am leading Bible studies on the subject at my local church, under the title of “Christ in the Old Testament” and last night we concentrated our attentions on Christ in Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy. The marvellous truth is that Christ is found in every book of the Hebrew scriptures, for example:

My own teaching / preaching style is not to write copious notes that I can then refer to when I am teaching, but I do believe thorough preparation is essential and sometimes, especially in the light of my proneness to forget something profound and important I wanted to say, it helps having cryptic notes to hand to help ensure I keep “on script” and avoid going down and getting lost in too many rabbit holes in my enthusiasm. I leave notes of last night’s presentation, slightly amended to accommodate omissions and further thoughts. Prophets and Writings will follow (watch this space).

But before that here is a recap (referring to recent blog postings) of the story so far:
- Jehovah Rapha – The Lord Who Heals (click here) – a consideration of the spiritual importance of water.
- The first three chapters of the Bible are the most important (click here) – reflecting on why having this understanding matters.
- Christ in the Books of Moses (click here) – a survey of some of the scriptures in the first five books of the Bible that Jesus may have referred to when talking to His disciples after rising from the dead.
- The Feast of the Circumcision of Christ and Christ in the Old Testament (click here) – a consideration of what transpired when Jesus met two sets of disciples, following His resurrection, and when He took them through the scriptures that referred to Him.

Notes from the Providence Bible study (26/03/25)
