When the November 2020 US Presidential election took place, I expected Trump to win based on my belief that the American people would come to see how bad Biden was. When that didn’t happen, I had no doubt (based on evidence) that the election was stolen and the right result would soon be called when this was widely realised.

Now just a few weeks away from the November 2024 election this has not happened and how bad the Biden administration has been for all to see. Despite Democrat claims up to recently that Biden was compos mentis this was clearly not the case yet Biden was recently dropped in favour of Vice President Harris to contest the next election, which again, as it turns out, is against Trump who has beaten off all rivals to become the Republican nominee and has gathered many, including surprises, to his side, while facing assorted attacks including two recent attempts on his life. Naturally, you might think, I would be again rooting for Trump. True he is far, far better that the alternatives to take up the highest office in the USA, but it is not without reservations as my last blog: “Michael J. Matt, the Remnant Underground, and the USA Elections” points out. When I posted the link on my Facebook page, there were some interesting responses, like this one from a pro-Trumper, who happens to share many of my views and hopes for the future:
“We are in a deep battle with many hidden future factors (as well as past and current ones). It irks me that Christian’s continue to criticize 45 for what he is saying about pro-life issues. Actually it means that many are still holding their noses while they vote for him. They are actually the stinky ones though, their own stench is what they don’t want to smell. They consider voting for pro-choice candidates because why? I cannot fathom it. They spend their money on woke brands, they look the other way when they should stand up and speak out. Their own churches are often led by flawed, weak or corrupt leaders. This guy remains in the catholic church even though he doesn’t appear to like the Pope. But apparently it’s not hypocritical of him to speak against 45? I haven’t listened to what he said. President Trump’s job right now is to win the election. He has to be careful what he says as we know how the media twist everything and hold him to a higher level than any dem. 45 has basically said to the American people – you now have the power to change abortion laws in your state. And what do the public do? Well not enough of them actually want their states to be more pro-life. We are a weak and corrupt populace ourselves. What needs to happen is a red state comes up with a workable blueprint for how to handle the issue. Then it can be rolled out by other red states and enforced on blue states at a later date by federal law. We are some way away from knowing how to even handle the issue properly and we have to actually walk there first, step by step. The life of the mother is pretty much an oxymoron, which anyone knows if they have looked at the issues, I won’t explain that now, but it should be a moot issue. Rape is a complex issue. What needs to happen is that the church should set up places for such women to be supported and helped through the issues. If we did that, fewer would choose abortion. Trump will give us the power to do that in a new way and also rapists will receive stiff penalties under a Trump term, which may well change people’s perceptions. I can’t recall what his 3rd exclusion is, but Christians should understand that we are heading into a place we have never been where technology, cures, justice and healthcare will make unbelievable gains and will change people’s lives in ways as yet unheard of. Trump is a strong leader and a clever leader, he knows what he is doing and it’s time for people to see things more clearly and support him. It doesn’t mean you have to agree with him on everything, but people should be more mature about the reality we face as we head towards the election. Sorry long comment.”
To which, my response was:
“Thank you for your thoughtful response. I recall a couple of years back you and I coming across and taking to task a highly respected Christian leader who was an avowed anti-Trumper and spouting stuff we regarded as tantamount to demonic yet had many other Christians who were widely seen as by those in our own theological tribe as being sound and influential supporting her. That to me is illustrative of the deception we had been seeing in the church that has only got worse although praise God I see signs of His people waking up.
Then comes along Donald J Trump, who has been the subject of 61 Trumpwatch blogs I posted after 2016, when he put his hat in the ring to be an unlikely president. A breath of fresh air its true despite numerous criticisms and so much needed in the light of on the US side Bush Snr, Clinton, Bush Jnr, Obama, Biden and on the UK side everyone from Blair onward. Of course, we should criticise 45 – the church has been called to be a prophetic voice and like all the Hebrew prophets from Enoch to Malachi that is what it should be doing and with few exceptions haven’t.
It is not just pro-life matters. Did you listen to Matt? He argued that subtly Trump has pushed God to the sidelines, something the Devil has been doing all along and he should be called out. With respect sister, I couldn’t care a jot your objecting – the only opinion that matters is God’s. I am no more an apologist for Matt than I am for Trump. I disagree on this theology but respect him wanting to stay in the RC church despite it being led by an apostate pope. Daily, I come across Christians in a similar position when it comes to finding a church to find and feeling like Matt they are part of a remnant. Ten years ago, when we tried to find a church to join in our city, you might have thought with a 100 to choose from we would be spoiled for choice but it came down to one and even then I could cite issues to leave over. But while my brothers and sisters may have been wrong on issues like Covid and Calvinism they have been godly, faithful and kind and, importantly, they allowed me to exercise my conscience on matters of disagreement.
At the beginning of my Trump watching, I saw him like a modern day King Cyrus. Now I see him more like a King Jehu. Jehu was anointed by God to drain the swamp of his day (Ahab and his legacy) which he did. But he replaced globalist idols with nationalist ones and God judged him. I hope that Trump does the job I believe God called him to back in 2016 but also to call a nation back to God, because if he doesn’t all we are going to see is Satan switch tack from Prince of Darkness mode to Angel of Light but with the same Great Reset / Revelation 6-19 ending. If I were a US citizen, I would likely vote Trump and encourage others to do so, but whichever side of the Pond I find myself, I say it as I see it, and thank God for you sister and brother Michael Matt.”
