Michael J. Matt, the Remnant Underground, and the USA Elections

As I often say, I check out the words of all sorts of people in my endeavours as a watchman on the wall given – if not me then who? True, these tend not to be from mainstream sources yet they are incredibly diverse as well as saying relevant things. One such voice is the unlikely one of Michael J. Matt who presents Remnant TV.

If you want to know more about the chap, albeit one giving a more favourable slant, check out here. If you want to know more about the show that he presents and what I check out from time to time, check out here. I have just been watching the latest (53 minute) episode, titled: We’ve Still Got Time! (Michael Matt Answers Your Questions about Trump 2024)” (see here). Since it blew my mind because the man gave us an important for our time message, I am now writing this blog.

The blowing my mind aspect comes on at least two fronts. Firstly, my own Christian upbringing is as anti-Catholic as it comes. Having said that, while many Catholics practice a form of religious hocus pocus not helped by false doctrines of Catholicism the same might be said for many Protestants. Yet, since that early indoctrination, I have met many Catholics and some of these I reckoned to have been true followers of Jesus. I reckon Michael Matt can be put in that category despite representing the more traditional wing of the Catholic church. Notably, he is much opposed to Pope Francis and much of the Catholic hierarchy, believing (rightly imo) that the church has compromised, going along with secular powers and their worship of Baal and Molech, e.g. killing babies in the mothers womb (a criticism that might also be laid at many Protestant leaders). This capitulation of responsibilities has given the evil doers the green light to do their worst (as is increasingly evident in the UK)

The other blow my mind point is regarding Trump and the US Presidential election to be held 5th November 2024. The thought that the Harris / Walz combination could win ahead of the Trump / Vance one fills me with dismay for reasons folk will realise when they read my blogs. Yet there is a big but, and thanks to brother Matt for pointing this out. I was already appraised that there were matters of concern following his performance in the recent Trump-Harris TV debate. A long while ago, I was captivated by three important issues that ought to concern Christians – pro-life, pro-marriage and pro-religious freedom. While Trump / Vance is better than  Harris / Walz on all of these issues (as discussed in my forays into the blogosphere) it became clear his position was a wishy washy one. Matt likens it to Pilate washing his hands when it came to condemning Jesus and it was done in order to bring onside the likes of RFK Junior and Tulsi Gabbard and members of the Republican party that are prepared to not offend the pro-abortion and pro-LBGT+ lobby and to do away with God altogether.

The issue for people like me (although in my case as a British citizen I do not have a say at the USA ballot box, although there will be similar considerations ahead for UK voters) concerns where matters of conscience comes in along with the argument of voting for the lesser of two evils (which in this case seems pretty obvious – Trump / Vance ahead of Harris / Walz by a long stretch). The matters of conscience issue is an interesting one as, ironically, I am researching right now into seventeenth century Puritans (I love) who suffered for conscience sake, often facing Catholics as their nemesis. It then begs the question – can we support those who are prepared to roll over to appease those who serve false gods rather than the true God?

I have long favoured Trump, seeing him as the Lord’s anointed (like king Cyrus in the Bible) to drain the swap which is deeper and dirtier than anyone could imagine when this was one of the phrases Trump came out with in his 2016 election campaign. The fact he has survived all sorts of attempts to destroy him by the assorted black hat brigade, including attempts on his life, seems indicative that he is protected by the angels and God still has plans for the man. We live in strange days when the battle between God and Satan, light and darkness, good and evil  etc. seems to be reaching new heights and where there appears all sorts of strange alliances for the cause of truth and righteousness and to oppose error and wrongdoing, such as with me and Michael Matt if we were to meet, but sadly not between me and many Christians (even real ones) who seem to be oblivious of or going along with the evil stuff that is going on This is setting the stage for the emergence of the Antichrist and the Great Tribulation before Christ returns. While we might well wish to be hoping for the best we also need to be preparing for the worst.

I would like to come up with final profound words of hope and comfort. Whoever my USA friends vote for on November 5th is up to them of course and it may be that decision may well be based on choosing the lesser of two evils. But it is even more clear, having heard brother Matt, that our hope and trust cannot be in Trump despite being miles better than Harris, but rather in the Lord.

24/09/24: Michael Matt continues, rightly, to bang home his point, while many who see how bad the alternatives to Trump is are prepared to let go on with issues like allowing abortion (which the Trump campaign rhetoric seems to be saying) in the interests of securing a win in the November 5th election as his latest “LIFE AFTER TRUMP: What Happens to Us If He Loses? | Remnant TV” episode reveals. I believe he is right – if all Trump does is propagate an alternative form of idolatry in exchange for perceived gains I am left wondering if it is better for the people of God to take the hit and endure suffering as Jesus warned would happen when we stand for truth and righteousness.
