A summer of rioting, Southend affected, peacemakers needed, and a Christian response

Four days ago, I wrote my last blog, titled “A summer of attacks and riots in Britain and unravelling the ‘narrative”. This was to do with something that goes to the heart of a problem that has been around for years but has increased steadily and has dire consequences, which if Elon Musk is to be believed, will lead to civil war if the matter is not addressed as now appears to be the case.

Yesterday, it was brought to my attention that Britain First have come to my city (Southend – where recent gang related violence took place) in order to organise protest. If social media is anything to go by (check out the Facebook group “Your Southend”, for example) the prospect has given rise to concern and consternation, with opinions divided on the rights and wrongs of such action. Word is that demonstrations (that could turn violent) could happen this evening. Besides a police presence there will be counter protesters, with traders and others taking precautions. I am told many fear the worse, fueled by earlier reports, disinformation and media hype.

It was not my intention to write on the subject so soon after what I wrote previously. Instead, I added updates to my earlier blog in the light of developments, which look to be ongoing for some time. While I tend to check out alternative rather than mainstream media, I am also aware of different views being put forward, something I acknowledged in my earlier blog. I have read BBC reports and what social justice warriors and nice Christians leaning more to the UK government position have had to say on social media. I have also checked out the normal suspects giving a different view e.g. Douglas Murray, Nigel Farage and Tommy Robinson, with an interesting twist provided by today’s UK Column episode, one of the few British media outlets challenging the official narrative, although I found myself agreeing a lot with Katie Hopkins in her “Saying the Unsayable. The truth behind the riots in the U.K” report.

The big issue for me is not just how we the people should respond but also how Christians should respond. As I say, not only have I checked out what high profile Christians have had to say on this and related subjects but I have been disappointed that many seem to have been taken in by government propaganda regarding the “far right” and fail to accept the concerns of the people with grievances and feel threatened, not just by the increase of immigrants with an ideology that does not respect British laws, customs and values but let down by successive governments (Labour and Conservative) who have allowed the influx of immigration for dubious reasons, leading to the collapse of nationhood to accommodate the globalists’ plans for a Great Reset while undermining peaceful and prosperous national life, along with curtailing individual freedom and more government control and coercion. Christians, who should have the answers, do not show a united front and all too often do not sing from the same hymn sheet, deceived by the lies being regularly dished out by the Unholy Trinity (government, media, elites).

Yet we all ought to recognise our own biases and axioms, that we may not be in possession of all the pertinent facts and that the various perspectives of those who perceive things differently may have some validity and need to be recognised and taken into account if we are going to come up with suitable solutions. Too often those from all sides fail to do this, thus adding to the tensions.

One video that resonates with me as it gives an out and out Christian perspective of what is going on and what we need to do that I happen to agree with is titled “The UK Accidentally Lost It’s Nation Overnight”. I share this because notwithstanding division and confusion in the Christian church the gospel they have been commissioned to share is the only thing that can save this nation from the dark destiny it is presently heading. Besides God’s response to Solomon’s prayer at the dedication to the Temple, I would like to share a popular song Make me a channel of your peace” (see here) that is based on the famous prayer of St. Francis, before ending on a sober reflection concerning where we are heading:

UK riots are not what you think they are. A deeper dive (Hegelian dialectic in process) (see here):

• The mass importation of people of differing cultures is designed to disrupt society. That’s what its purpose is.

• The next step was to implement propaganda and laws forbidding any criticism of this policy. Hate speech laws, calls for “tolerance” and other such mealy mouthed but purposely designed legislature and propaganda exist to incite citizens as they see their culture and homeland turned upside down.

• Now we are at the stage where provocateurs fuel the rising sentiment with the express purpose of creating chaos. Pitting one side against the other. Ants in a jar being shaken. The ants…you, never stop to question who is shaking the jar and why.

• The next step and we’re moving there quickly is the implementation of a police state. The citizens tired, fearful and confused will beg for someone to do something. Call in the military they’ll beg.

• And this is where full blown surveillance will come. Everyone should be tracked and traced (Yes the covid scam was test running the system … didn’t you know?) facial recognition, curfews/lockdowns (stay within 15 min of your home…yes the 15 min city…oh how convenient) …”

Update 07/08/24 2200

I decided to visit the Hamlet Court Road area to check out what the protesters and anti-protesters were up to for myself and see if I could practice what I preached regarding peacemaking. What I witnessed was peaceful. I was told that it had been like that all evening. The only protesters I could see were of the anti-racist, anti-far-right variety, although I suspect there remains many in our city who share the concerns of those branded racist and far right and who simply want to avoid protesting that could lead to trouble.
