Sitting in church the previous Sunday and looking on at the screen that gave out notices I was reminded of three things:

1. The coming Wednesday was Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent.
2. As a church we would be using the Lenten reflections in Tim Chester’s book: “The Glory of the Cross”
3. I was down the preach the following Sunday (I had forgotten).

After thinking about what I ought to be preaching about, I felt in the light of the Lenten theme and the book we were encouraged to read, I should preach on what I and many others consider to be at the the heart of the Christian message – the Cross. These are the slides that went with my talk that I titled: Aspects of the Cross.
