Truth and Truthers
We can elaborate and/or beg to differ slightly but, for the purpose of this article, the following definitions will do …

Truth is the property of being in accord with fact or reality. In everyday language, truth is typically ascribed to things that aim to represent reality or otherwise correspond to it, such as beliefs,…
Truther is a person who doubts the generally accepted account of an event, believing that an official conspiracy exists to conceal the true explanation; a conspiracy theorist.

Those who have followed my blogging over the years will have noted that I am rather keen on the subject of truth. I rather surprised myself when I googled “jrbpublications truth” how many different posts popped up. Not that I want to claim moral high ground, get on my high horse etc., and I am all too aware of my own limited knowledge and my own life journey, prejudices and axioms and let’s face it – blatant hypocrisy when saying one thing and doing something different, when it comes to the subject of truth. Some will note my righteous indignation when I note bad guys lying (as they so often do), who at the same time claim to be defending truth.

The term “truther” has cropped up in recent years and generally is used in a pejorative sense. Even considering different Christian camps, ranging from liberal to conservative including keep out of politics and toe the line when submitting to authority, to those who believe Covid-19 is a PLANdemic and react accordingly, yet show contempt to “truthers” who believe in a Great Awakening they associate with “Q” and New Age followers. Yet looking at the definition, I guess I must be a truther and am proud of it lol.

A big HOWEVER though … the Bible and God does not call us to be “truthers”, but rather people who follow the truth, who are faithful, and if we look at all the crazy things going on in the world it can be rather presumptuous sometimes to put our own interpretation on events other than we are in a spiritual warfare and as soldiers in the Lord’s army, we are commanded to put on the full armour of God. As for New Age, Q etc., I follow neither. Rather, I look to God for help and am a follower of the Lord Jesus Christ, declaring with the Apostle Peter my allegiance to Him, who alone can save.

A few days ago, I posted a link to a recent blog on a fan group of C.S.Lewis, a man I admired, not least because of his stand for truth. The title was “What have C.S.Lewis, J.R.R.Tolkien and Alex Jones got in common?” and I began “The answer, according to Jay Dyer, in his recent video: “Tolkien and CS Lewis Wrote To Expose the Illuminati“, is they were doing then something similar to what Alex Jones is doing today”. It became quite clear that some in that group, who shared my admiration of Lewis and Christian views, took exception at me suggesting their beloved C.S.Lewis and modern day conspiracy theorist / truther, Alex Jones had anything common. While Lewis, like many a writer, may have had underlying motives for writing, he is no longer around to inquire what he was thinking off, and so find out who is right – but who cares anyway?

Back to the truther definition, my point is, given what I now know and my distrust of the unholy trinity (politicians, media, elite), I have seen enough and can no longer accept the official version behind many happenings in the world. Since our responding in the right way matters, I persist in my endeavours. While I am no Elisha, who knew what the King spoke in his bedroom and was thus able to warn the people against imminent threats, I do see plenteous evidence of an evil cabal and a global conspiracy that is controlling the affairs of men. This is why I persist in the lonely job of watching on the wall and invite others to join me in this important activity.

In winding up, I would like to share ten Old Testament texts and ten New Testament texts that refer to truth (out of the 224 times the word “truth” crops up in the KJV Bible) worth meditating on. I am not calling readers to be truthers but I am calling them to be faithful to the Lord, who requires us to seek and be beholden to the truth.
